History
Youth against Racism (Ungdom mot Rasism) was founded in 1996 among those youngsters that had participated in the European-council's youth campaign called "All different - All equal".
The Swedish part of the campaign was named "Ungdom mot Rasism" (Youth against Racism) and organized as a committee under the "Ministry of Public Administration" (state government), managed to involve 11 000 youngsters.
When the campaign ended, all youngsters who had participated in the campaign formed groups around the country. These groups together form what is Ungdom mot Rasism today.
What is Youth against racism today?
Today Ungdom mot Rasism consists of youngsters between the ages 13 and 25. The board consists of 7youngsters who are responsible for the entire organization. The networking group consists of 5 or 7 youngsters originating from different local groups.
This group is responsible for creating of new local groups, coming up with suggestions of new activities, and developing new ways to handle the organization. We also have one group working with the media and educating people in how to respond against discrimination through the media.
Our local groups work in different ways depending on what kind of problem they encounter on their location, but what they all have in common is their work against harassment and racist action.
Most of the questions that the local groups have are answered at the main-office, where you can recieve help with everything that Ungdom mot Rasism works with and supports.
What do we work with
Ungdom mot Rasism arranges theme-days at schools with speakers and exhibitions. Here we talk to the students in small groups about racism, student-democracy, harassment of fellow students and their values.
